October Range Notes

Setting up on the Day of the Match

Range is open at 7:00 AM for setup. If setup crew is going to be late on a stage, please contact J.D. Smith ahead of time. This way extra range setup volunteers can be funneled to help on stages that are delayed.
If you are the RO, come prepared with a course design in mind.  The Pistol Match Director will work with you to create a challenging but safe course of fire but at a minimum, come with something in mind.

If you require assistance in building the course, you should be able to enlist a volunteer, two or more on the day of the match to help you haul stuff, set up targets and do what ever is necessary.

Reminder About Scoring

Here is another example of making sure you have correct information, written legibly on your score sheet …
I was on the USPSA site checking to see whether or not any of my efforts to move up from “D” class was working.  To my surprise, I was on record as having shot 82% on classifier 99-22 with an open gun at the Mojave Green Shooters Club in Nevada on August 13.
This was a complete surprise to me because I remembered being at the Millcreek range on the same date.  I was shooting a L-10 gun, wondering whether we were going to get rained on and doing nowhere as well on a different classifier.
After contacting both USPSA and the Mojave Green Shooters, the classifier is going to its rightful owner.
The lesson is that score keeping is not a psychic reading act.  The score keeper will only record what they see/read on the sheet.
End of Year Celebration
As in the years past, there will be an end of year celebration.  The format will be similar with gun drawings, prize tables, sales tables and food.  All these activities will commence after the 2006 BOD election and the December match.
Remember to bring something to enter in the door prizes.  You must also be present to win in the drawings for guns.
Millcreek PSL membership

One of the membership requirements of MPSL is setting up two stages during the year.  If you have fulfilled this requirement, thank you for meeting your membership obligations!

In the past couple months, there were several incidences of no show.  That was why there was no Shotgun match in August.  If you were at the range early on September, that was why one of the pistol stages was slow to get set up – because someone did not show.

If you have a conflict that prevents you from meeting this obligation, contact a fellow club member and ask them to help you out and notify a BoD member of the plans.  Your commitment is to ensure someone is on site to set up a course.  It does not have to be yourself.

NRA Membership

As part of shooting at the Millcreek Rifle Club range, it is required that all MPSL members also belong to the NRA.  Please bring a copy of your NRA publication with the address label or a NRA membership card as a proof of current membership when you renew MPSL membership for 2005.

You can renew your NRA membership at a special pricing through the club.
