January Results

Despite the ice and the cold, 26 pistol shooters came out and shot five stages.  With the cold weather, they were all fast  courses with total round count of 77 rounds.  12  shooters (12 Rifle/11 Shotgun) shot the long gun matches in the afternoon.

Range Notes

SAFETY

At the January match, there was one competitor that had a gun malfunction.  The slide was stripped off the frame with a round in chamber.  Please note that this is NOT a safe condition and every effort to remove the round from the chamber before stripping off the slide needs to be performed.

Score Sheets

Yet one more reminder to make sure that your information is correct before submitting your score sheet.   There was one shooter whose classification was not clearly defined on the classifier sheet.  As a result, he was scored with L-10 instead of Limited class.  

Score keeping is not a mind reading act and your scores will be tallied according to what is (or is not) on your sheet.

Equipment Failure

If you have a spare gun, bring it to the match.  In case of equipment failure that puts your primary gun out of commission, you will have something to complete the match.  The replacement must be of the same type (class) and power factor as the original.

Restrictions on the 50 Yard Range

Please also note that no vehicles will be allowed on the 50 yard range until further notice – not even for a minute  to set up the course.  We have been advised that the septic tanks to the club house runs under the front part of the 50 yard range.

This also applies to use of stakes on the 50.  Please DO NOT drive posts or stakes into the ground on this range.

If you are setting up on the 50, please plan accordingly.

Access to 200 Yard Range on Match Days

The 200 yard range will only be available from 9AM to 1PM on regular match dates in January, February, March, April, June and July.   We will not have access to set up on the 200 yard range on the other regular match dates.

On those dates where the 200 yard is available, the club intends to use it to set up an additional pistol stage(s).  If you are scheduled to set up a pistol stage on those months, please first check in with J.D. Smith when you come in. 

For Rifle stages, we will have access to the LE range on the regular match dates. 

Classifiers

The classifiers scheduled for the rest of 2005 have been identified.  Please look at the 2005 calendar at the end of the newsletter.

·       First organizational meeting was held on Monday, January 31.  Additional sessions will be held as needed.  If interested in volunteering, contact Scott Hattrup at HotrodSS@aol.com.

·       The stage design committee has been selected.

·       The match dates are June 30 through July 3.

·       The announcement will appear in the March-April issue of Front Sight.  The registration form is currently available on the USPSA site.

As part of shooting at the Millcreek Rifle Club range, it is required that all MPSL members also belong to the NRA.  Please bring a copy of your NRA publication with the address label or a NRA membership card as a proof of current membership when you renew MPSL membership for 2005.

If your NRA membership has lapsed, they can be renewed at a discount through the club.
