February Results
Forty-eight pistol shooters came out to shoot five stages. The stages included three field courses averaging 25 rounds each, a 24 round classifier -- Siouxsie Queues Standard -- and a 13 round squirter stage using metric targets. The total round count was 112, if you didn’t waste a few on the small poppers or the Texas Star.
The long gun match was a two-man course with requiring a shotgun shooter and a rifle shooter. Twelve shooters from the pistol match plus two braved the wet and cold to shoot it in the afternoon.
This brought the total shooter count to 50. No DQ’s were recorded.
Congratulations to all the winners of each class.

Range Notes
March Match
For the upcoming match, it is expected that we will have full use of the 200 yard range in the morning. Expect another five stage match. If you are an RO, check in with JD Smith to see if he needs you to set up the fifth stage.
If you are relatively new at setting up a course or unsure of what to set up, check in with JD. He will provide you with direction on what is needed.
If you require assistance in building the course, you will be able to draft a volunteer or two on the day of the match to help you haul stuff, set up targets and do what ever is necessary.
Score Sheets
Help keep the score keeper sane. Make note of the color of your score sheet and make sure that all information is filled in on both sides. The colors are:
White Open
Yellow Limited/Limited 10
Blue Production/Revolver
Green New Shooter
The long guns are scored on a separate sheet. Since the club currently does not score them by class, any sheet will work.
Recording Scores
Make sure to clearly indicate what range you are shooting at on the score sheet. The new score sheets will not be numbered Stage 1, Stage 2…
Restrictions on the 50 Yard Range
Please also note that no vehicles will be allowed on the 50 yard range until further notice not even for a minute to set up the course. The Rifle club has advised us that the septic system for the club house runs under the front part of the 50 yard range.
Classifiers
The classifiers scheduled for the rest of 2005 have been identified. Please look at the 2005 calendar at the end of the newsletter.
2005 Area III Match Update
·
Stage Design Committee is wrapping up the stage designs for submission to USPSA.
·
There will be one or more workdays scheduled for the near future for building walls and associated props. Look for invitations from Jeff Shelly or Rob Daniels.
·
Possibility of setting up a RO class at a reasonably close facility is being worked out. Date and location will be announced as soon as the details are known.
·
The announcement will appear in the March-April issue of Front Sight. The registration form is currently available off of the USPSA site.
·
There is a lot of work ahead and we will need many people to make this event a success. If interested in volunteering, contact Scott Hattrup at HotrodSS@aol.com or Bernie Haldiman at bhaldiman@earthlink.com.
Skills Development Matches
There are four dates set aside for Skills Development Matches on the LE Range. The May and the June dates have been designated as pistol. They will be similar in format to the last year’s sessions, where focus will be placed on building up the skills of “C” and “D” level shooters.
The courses for August and September dates have yet to be defined. If anyone has interest in setting up a similar format for long gun or three-gun courses on these dates, please coordinate with Rob Daniels, Long Gun Director at Rob@minpin.com.
