March Results
At the March match, there were Fifty-seven pistol shooters including four revolver shooters attempting to solve some six round unfriendly courses of fire, starting with the classifier “Madness” CM 03-08. Other challenges included two “running” courses one of them with the Texas Star at the end of it and finally, a course requiring you to engage targets while being chained to a table. The total round count for these four course of fire was 98.
Eighteen shotgun and sixteen rifle shooters stayed through the afternoon.
No DQs were recorded.
Congratulations to all the winners of each class.

April Range Notes
New Berm on 25 Yard Range
There is now a berm dividing the 25 yard range. This berm was organized and built by MPSL. Special thanks to JD Smith for organizing and scheduling the work on building the berm. This will give us an additional bay necessary for the Area 3 as well as improve the flow for the regular club matches.
Pistol Courses
There will be four courses of fire for April. One classifier and 3 field courses.
Long Gun Stages
There will be two rifle and one shotgun stages. Rifle stages will be on the 200yd and LE range with shotgun on the north 25 yard.
There will be two squads set up for the afternoon. One squad will begin shooting the LE range and shotgun while the other starts on the 200 yd range. The shooters will move as a squad to each of the stages.
Like pistol squads, these squads will tear down the stages at the end of the day.
RO responsibilities
One of the requirements for membership is performing some task(s) in support of the club. As a general rule, this means signing up as the RO to set up two courses of fire each year.
All RO Slots need to be completely filled before ARO slots can be opened up. The club needs to ensure that there is a person responsible for setting up a course for each and every slot before doubling up.
If you are signed up to set up a stage and have conflicts preventing you from fulfilling obligations to the club, you need to find a replacement. You will still get the credit because you arranged for your replacement.
This does not mean simply e-mailing or calling a member of the board of directors to say that you can’t set up on that day. You will need to make the arrangements.
If you fail to show or arrange for your replacement, it will result in you being charged non-member rates until you have successfully met your obligations.
Getting Credit for Unscheduled Work
If you jumped in to set up a course because of an unscheduled no-show or worked on a difficult setup, it is possible to get credit for the work. Just let the Club Secretary (Jon Espy) or who ever is signing up shooters in the morning know that you are working and he will be able to record the proper credit for the work performed.
Please keep in mind that the credit for stepping up to help needs to be recorded on the same day. This allows the Club Secretary an opportunity to fill in the newly opened slot.
Setting up on the Day of the Match
If you are relatively new at setting up a course or unsure of what to set up, check in with J.D. He will provide you with direction on what is needed.
If you require assistance in building the course, you will be able to enlist a volunteer or two on the day of the match to help you haul stuff, set up targets and do what ever is necessary.
Score Sheets
Help keep the score keeper sane. Make note of the color of your score sheet and make sure that all information is filled in on both sides. The colors are:
White Open
Yellow Limited/Limited 10
Blue Production/Revolver
Green New Shooter
The long guns are scored on a separate sheet. Since the club currently does not score them by class, any sheet will work.
Recording Scores
Make sure to clearly indicate what range you are shooting at on the score sheet. The new score sheets will not be numbered Stage 1, Stage 2…
2005 Area III Match Update
There is still a lot of work ahead and we will need many people to make this event a success. If interested in volunteering, contact Scott Hattrup at HotrodSS@aol.com or Brett Johnson at wot302@comcast.com.
For the most up to date information, go to the Club’s website.
RO Training April 23 & 24
NROI class will be held on those dates. The class room segment on the 23rd will be at the Foss Training Center in Leawood, KS. The Range segment on the 24th is tentatively scheduled at the Millcreek range.
Cost is $40. For registration form or more information, go to the home page of the club’s web site or contact Rob Daniels at rob@minpin.com.
Skills Development Matches
There are four dates set aside for Skills Development Matches on the LE Range. The May and the June dates have been designated as pistol. They will be similar in format to the last year’s sessions, where focus will be placed on building up the skills of “C” and “D” level shooters.
The first of the Skills Development Matches is Sunday, May 1. The format is expected to be similar to last year.
The courses for August and September dates have yet to be defined. If anyone has interest in setting up a similar format for long gun or three-gun courses on these dates, please coordinate with Rob Daniels, Long Gun Director at Rob@minpin.com.
