New and Beginning Competitive Shooter Clinics
Clinics have two areas of focus. One is the pistol shooter who wants to consider trying USPSA shooting. The second is the beginning pistol competitor who has decided they want to participate in USPSA matches. Non-shooting visitors are welcome to observe and ask questions. Everyone must sign a liability waiver.
More experienced shooters are welcome to attend Clinics. Instructors will try to help in any way that they reasonably can, but instructors will focus on assisting the new and beginning competitive shooters.
For those who are new to the sport (and those who are not),
the strongest focus is always on safety.
The basics of the rules and range commands are also presented:
1. Most important, SAFETY
2. Range Rules
3. Range Commands
4. Scoring
For those who want to try or are new to competing, we can assist with basic skills used during live fire, such as:
1. Proper grip
2. Sight picture
3. Mechanics of the draw
4. Mechanics of reloading
5. Target transition
6. Basics of how to think through a course of fire
Clinic participants need to bring with them a pistol, three magazines, 150 rounds of ammunition and belt gear that is reliable and with which they are familiar. Pistol should be a center fire, semi-automatic in 9mm Luger caliber or greater up to but not larger than 45 caliber. The belt holster and magazine pouches for at least two magazines should be reliable.
If you have questions of any kind about the Clinics, please email us at the Club address several days prior to the Clinic you are considering attending.
We look forward to safely sharing our sport with you.
