BASIC BOARD OF DIRECTORS DUTIES

Overview

In late 2002, Gary Moore discussed with prior Board members the various offices used in the past. Over the last two years, the BOD has modified the various positions, and added some responsibilities as needed.  The current BOD is composed of:

All Board Members

Attend all matches to regulate proceedings, check safety matters,  and generally oversee matches.  Be in contact with other Board members when problems arise or to discuss other responsibilities.

At least one member keeps P.O. box key and checks box at least weekly.  Protect club’s assets from loss or damage – whatever might threaten club’s property or future.  Public relations work for the club’s growth and betterment. 

President

Keep communications open with USPSA and MCRC.  Generally oversee all club functions at all levels and able to step in to any Board position when needed.  Organize Board and membership meetings.

Match Director (replaced with)

Pistol Match Director (First Vice President)

Keep track of which classifier is scheduled each month and provide copies to Secretary/Treasurer at beginning of match sign-in. Check all stages for safety correctness.  Test new shooters for firearms safety and proficiency.

Provide to score keeper the following match information for each course of fire (pistol, rifle and shotgun):  range, ROs, type of course – speed or field, scoring – comstock or limited comstock, number of paper targets, number of steel targets, and total number of shots required. 

Long-gun Match Director (Second Vice President)

Check all stages for safety correctness.  Test new shooters for firearms safety and proficiency.

Provide to score keeper the following match information for each course of fire (pistol, rifle and shotgun):  range, ROs, type of course – speed or field, scoring – comstock or limited comstock, number of paper targets, number of steel targets, and total number of shots required. 

Newsletter (Third Vice President)

Formulate newsletter with all pertinent information concerning club activities and scores.  Proofread the newsletter and send out. Provide scores and other material to internet provider as necessary.

Quartermaster

Keep track of and perform maintenance on all club equipment.  Opens and locks up equipment shed before and after each match.  Makes sure all ranges are clear of club equipment at the conclusion of each match. Maintain club supply of all expendable items such as targets, pasters and ammunition for club firearms.  Timely provide list of needed supplies to Secretary/Treasurer for ordering.

Treasurer

Collect all match fees and other revenues, pay all bills and expenses and generally conduct all club financial business.  Maintain records and keep track of club responsibilities. Be the NRA recruiter and representative.  Maintain communications with USPSA and MCRC as necessary.

Secretary

Maintain BOD minutes and other records. Recruits RO’s and notifies appropriate match Director of persons responsible for up coming match activities. Provides ballots for the annual meeting based on club share principle. 

Scorekeeper

While not a formal member of the BOD at this time, the position serves at the discretion of the BOD and as an advisor to that group. Pick up score sheets from range, process them, and report results to USPSA together with required fee for each match.  Check to USPSA for required fee is provided by Treasurer.
